Rainbow Socks for Arlo
"Tie-dyed" socks presented to Arlo Guthrie at Decator, Alabama concert
by Jackie E-S
My friend John has been a long-time avid Arlo Guthrie fan. John has attended several Arlo concerts and had told me how great they were. I got my chance to see for myself on March 7, 2005 in Decator, Alabama.
John had also talked me into making and presenting a pair of socks to Arlo himself! There were a few logistics to work through (like finding out Arlo's foot size!). However, once we got this idea in our heads, there was no stopping us.
Many thanks to Beth Casey at Lorna's Laces for supplying her handdyed rainbow yarn for this zany idea — that colorway of yarn is perfect for these tie-dyed looking socks.
Since we had to take the weekend off to travel 2 states away, we also took the opportunity to visit friend Mary Moran in nearby Laceys Spring, AL.
I can totally agree with John that attending one of Arlo's concert is a great treat. Whatever way you feel going into the concert, you will feel even happier coming out. Mary and her husband also went to the concert, and thanks to Mary for snapping pictures of me presenting the socks to Arlo. I can hardly believe that shy-little-me agreed to do this, but everything turned out great.
