Warm Hearts Comfortghan
HeartStrings knitting pattern #KH06
A snuggly lap blanket or afghan is a comfort to knit and give to loved ones. Here is a design for a handsome small blanket in a "warm hearts" theme appropriate for anyone. A bonus is that the stitch pattern is different yet pleasing on both sides — it's like getting two blankets for the effort of making one!
44½" x 52". 1250 yards worsted weight yarn. 4 stitches/inch over stitch pattern, size US 9 / 5.5 mm needles suggested. Shown in Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Superwash, color Serendipity Turquoise, knitted by Rachel Wilson. Designed by Laura Andersson and Jackie E-S. Written stitch instructions.
Warm Hearts Scarf
Shown just above is a scarf version of Warm Hearts Comfortghan pattern. For this scarf, cast on 25 stitches and just follow the pattern as instructed for the afghan size. This is one of the scarves I donate to WomenHeart, the organization devoted to improving the quality of life and healthcare for women living with heart disease. Shown in Heritage Yarns cotton chenille, color Holly Berry.
Please consider knitting a red scarf to donate to WomenHeart. More information is at the website for the
National Coalition of Women with Heart Disease resources website.
